What we can put in front of you on day one

Halo Turf builds greens in California, Arizona, and Texas. Utah County is the newest branch. Same brand, same turf, and the same install standard.

Here is what you can check before you sign anything.

The 15-year product warranty, with the tiers printed

Years 1 through 8
100%
Years 9 through 12
50%
Years 13 through 15
25%

Covers significant fading, breakdown, or degradation from natural light exposure. It does not cover matting, misuse, or damage from chemicals. This is a product warranty, and you get it in writing.

Most companies in this county say the warranty is industry leading and stop there. We would rather print the tiers. Then you can compare.

What the surface is made of

  • 100% USA-made.
  • Lead-free.
  • PFAS-free.
  • UV stabilized.

The surface spec goes in your written scope. You will know exactly what you are getting.

The Utah Winter Build Standard

On a green this is not a selling point. It is the difference between a surface that rolls true in year five and one that does not.

  1. Base depth. Excavated and built to depth for your soil and your slope.

  2. Compaction. Compacted in lifts. Any settling under a green shows up right away. The ball breaks where it should not.

  3. Drainage. Slope and drainage built for snowmelt volume. Water that sits under a green is what moves the base.

  4. Seams. Cut and secured to hold through freeze-thaw movement. Set so they do not interrupt the roll.

  5. Infill. Spread and power-broomed to set the surface. That holds the speed even across the green.

Putting green installation, designed around your yard

We start by walking the space with you. Then we ask how you actually want to practice. Somebody who wants to work on eight-foot putts needs a different green. Somebody who wants to chip into it from across the yard needs another.

Then we design the contours around that. Break, tiers, and where the cups sit are design choices, not defaults. That is what makes a backyard green worth building instead of buying a mat.

Built on a base that survives freeze-thaw

Utah is the hard case for a backyard green. Every freeze-thaw cycle moves ground that was not compacted right.

A green punishes that harder than a lawn does. On a lawn, a quarter inch of settling is invisible. On a green, it is a putt that breaks the wrong way for years.

That is why the base work is the part of our scope we would most want you to compare against another quote. Ask what they compact to. Ask how they handle drainage. If the answer is vague, that is your answer.

  • Snow melts off it

Play any day the snow is off the surface.

  • Built for snowmelt

Slope and drainage sized for melt volume, not just rain.

  • Base built in lifts

Compacted in layers, not dumped and rolled once.

  • Compare the quotes

Ask any other bid the same two questions.

How much space you need

Less than most people think. A working practice green fits in a corner of a typical Utah County back yard. A bigger one gets you longer putts and more chipping angles. It is not a different thing.

We will tell you straight at the visit whether the space you have will do what you want. If it will not, we would rather say so than build you something that lets you down.

Greens also work well with a turf lawn in the same yard. Doing both in one visit is cheaper than doing them apart.

  • A corner is enough

Most back yards here have room for a green that works.

  • A straight answer first

If the space will not do it, we say so at the visit.

  • Green plus lawn

One setup instead of two, and it costs less.

The green surface, fringe, and cups

The putting surface, the fringe or collar around it, and the cup spots all go in your written scope. You will know exactly what you are getting.

Green speed is the question everyone asks. Here is our honest answer. We are not going to print a number on a website. Speed depends on the surface, the infill, the contours, and how the green is kept up.

What we will do is bring a sample and let you roll a ball on it at the visit. Then we agree on the target with you before we build. That is a better answer than a number you cannot check from a web page.

  • In your written scope

The surface, the fringe, and the cup spots, in writing.

  • Designed with you

Break and tiers are choices we make together, not defaults.

Putting green questions

It depends on square footage, how much contour you want, the drainage the yard needs, and the surface spec. Greens cost more per square foot than a lawn install, because the shaping and base work take more. We do not post a per-square-foot number, because for a green it would mean nothing. We walk the yard and put a real number in writing for free. The one figure we will print is our floor. Projects start at $2,500.
